The three headed juggernaut that is Apatow, Cera, and Hill has awoken me from my blogging hiatus.

Judd Apatow, from The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up fame, has teamed up with Michael Cera and Jonah Hill for what looks like the next BIG teen/buddy/high school/get laid movie, appropriately titled "Superbad." I'm personally excited because ever since Arrested Development got cancelled, I've been jonesing for a bit of George Michael funny and Jonah Hill is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors. His part in The 40 Year Old Virgin was only a minute long but left a lasting impression on me. I even combed EBay in an attempt to find a pair of see through stripper boots like the ones he tried to purchase in the movie. Unfortunately for me, I came up empty-handed. Plus, I can identify with having to beg for sex in high school and the challenges of scoring booze. I kid, I kid....ok, not really.

Seth Rogen and Bill Hader make appearances as two of the the shadiest, most irresponsible cops ever. And there's a friend name McLovin. One word. Nuff said.

The movie comes out on August 17th and to hype it up, the studio has created a website specifically for the release along with a widget. They've got a general trailer (for those under the age of 18) along with a red ban trailer that is no holds barred. To view this, you have enter your name, zip code, and DOB. It sounds like alot of work for you lazy bastards, but it's worth it. Seriously.

In LA today. I'm sleepy and a bit worn out on the inside. Last night was another great night of B-list celebrity sightings at the Grizzly Bear show. That blonde girl from Dawson's Creek who isn't Katie Holmes or that other one who looks vaguely like a duck was there as well as some dude from MAD TV who's hair looked like he was standing in front of a powerful yet invisible fan. Last week at the Number 23 Premiere I saw Jenny McCarthy and Christina Applegate. It's always so much easier to spot the blonde ones for some reason. Anywho, I find it wildly amusing. This morning is a great time for this song by the Finches. Just go to 3Hive. All 3 are good, but Daniel's Song is a silky yet crisp song about looking out for your family, something I'm trying to learn how to do more of. They are from the city up north, San Francisco.

Call it hometown pride or whatever, but whenever I hear of a quality artist/band coming out of my hometown (or general hometown area), I get a little bit excited. Buildings Breeding, Jackie Greene, DJ Shadow, Blackalicious, Quannum, I'm talking about you! Hell, I'll even give some shine to Deftones and Tesla since I did listen to them back in the day.

I've recently grabbed a few tracks off the upcoming !!! release and it's gotten me intrigued to hear the entire album. The band's progressive indie dance sounds have always made for an interesting mix of high energy, disjointed, and catchy beats all rolled into one. I used to wake up for work in my Brooklyn studio, put on some !!! and get my day started (thanks for the tip Alex).

Coming April 24th. I know it's incredibly lame to sit and listen to an E-card, but that's what I've been doing. I've always wanted to like Pela, but there was a lot left to be desired on their last record; they just weren't there yet and hadn't quite hit the mark. From what I've heard of the new record they've taken it to the next level and it's definitely legit. The great elk/moose/whatever the F animal that is being rained on by an anatomical heart is quite nice as well as a visual component. So check it out below. It's pretty impressive.

I never cared too much for Matt and Kim. I could never get into their sound which reminds me of somebody getting hopped up on coke and performing at a Chuck E. Cheese in their underwear. Tossing rational judgement aside, I also always unfairly lump them together with Mates of State, who I HATE. This is no fault of Matt and Kim's; my initial perception was that they were a couple making music together and now I can't get it out of my head.

The first time I heard "Yea Yeah," the only reaction I could muster up was a 'meh' before I moved onto something else. However, I finally got around to watching the video and although still not a fan, I was left with a more favorable impression. Something about food fights and seeing the bare back of a woman will always do that to me.

I tried looking for some mp3s of this Swedish duo online and could only find 2 blogs who didn't have the songs available anymore. So, let me preface this by saying that if you are associated w/ this band and want me to take this down, just say the word. This song, however, is the JAM. My friend Andrew played it for us on Saturday while teaching us the Chicken Noodle Soup Dance at a BBQ. I knew I had to get a hold of it in case I DJ-ed anytime soon. Here it is, enjoy. I was trying to make a mixtape today and when I saw that Music For Robots had posted a track featuring Mirah it jogged my memory and I was on a mission. My cousin's new movie, The Number 23 comes out the 23rd of the 2nd month of this year. Spooky. I got to check out the film about a month ago and it's one of the best thriller's I've seen in a really long time. The other C and I kind of flipped out ourselves, adopting some of Jim Carrey's psychosis over the number. He made a huge diagram dissecting various names and phrases and he looked like a crazy little wacko wang working ferocious equations while sitting cross-legged in the office. I went to some event for Super Deluxe. They provided us with fried chicken and french fries from Dinah's, beer, whiskey and fun. Brad Neely is a goddamn genius, if you know what's good for you, click here and then choose the Professor Brothers sketch. You. will. laugh. your. goddamn. ass off. For real. Afterwards we went over to the Chateau Marmont where I ran into a kid I used to be in choir with in high school, now a member of the Chateau crew. We sat next to Zach Braff and Penelope Cruz and ordered some Newcastle and Pinot Grigio, because we're classy like that. Ye old Chateau is extremely odd in it's reputation and clientele but I can kind of dig on the old tymey, tucked away charm and class to it. My buddy Sussbomb used to work there, so we were even treated to some free bread and whatnot (sadly the only vegan thing on the menu.) All in all it was a pretty good time, though I'm paying dearly for it today. Please check out the video. It's great, I promise.

1) Doug Fir is the fucking JAM, why don't more cities have places that have good shows where you can feel like a CLASSY dirtbag hipster while also enjoying cheap happy hour drinks and feasting on blown glass Moose eye candy?
2) You CAN make a living doing pretty much anything when your rent is like a buck fifty a month
3) I'm not sure how I feel about bicycles being the rule rather than the exception when it comes to transportation, especially in the snow
4) It's a rad place to be in a band, since pretty much everyone can fit a make-shift studio in the basement of their cheap and dope-ass house
5) When I grow up I want to be a McMennamins brother. Their class of old-tymey hipster tested grandpa approved hotels and bars is off the chain

Today I made two discoveries on the way to and from Amoeba.

1. Pat O'Brien has 2, count 'em TWO stars on the streets of Hollywood. While walking East on Hollywood Blvd to go to lunch I spotted number 1, no big surprise since I had seen it before. Then on my way North on Vine St. later on I caught a glimpse of numero 2. Who wants to get some coke 'n hookers and go crazy with me on this one????

2. I'm not even going to dignify what emo jerk-ass cry baby record I just picked up at Amoeba... but out of the conversation Calvin dropped the most magical Conor Oberst slam I've heard. I heart Conor, but in all the heckling I've gotten over the years, never have I heard anyone call him Conor BLOWBERST. Ahahahahaha.

While cruising around Beach House's Myspace (as I am so in love with them)... I happened to see this guy, The Papercuts, in their top 8. I clicked and had a listen and I do like it quite a bit. Fast Food is something that's always really fascinated me, especially since I think I could count on both hands how many times I've actually consumed it despite the fact that I've seen more commercials, billboards and huge neon establishments than there are centimeters of wizard sleeve in Calvin's mom's, well anyway, you know what I mean. Last night was super fun. Some bloggers I like were in town so we all got drinks/food at the Cat & the Fiddle which is a pretty nice joint for affairs with many attendants. Nice outdoor seating and warm cozy heat lamps. Twinkly lights. So many people whose company I really enjoy were out. Calvin did the basketball dance, Ted wouldn't let me put him in a headlock, Kat went crazy for Polaroids, Dustin donned a tie full of Floridas and Lady Sov was there just lookin so damn cute I wanted to give her an ice cream cone. It ended on a comfy bench/lounge type deal around a pool lined w/ Palm Trees at the Roosevelt Hotel. Not bad right? Free vinyl too. Actually it didn't end that way. It ended w/ me realizing that I had left my car keys at work and making Kat turn around to pick me up while I waited on the corner of Sunset and Vine and got mistaken for a hooker.

I love this song. Always. And was just listening to it so thought I would post it...

Last night I went to the Paper Magazine party they had in my hood at Jensen's Rec Center. It was an interesting place. The whole party spent most of their time standing in one large mass of a line waiting for drinks. There was a blazing lump of crystal rocks on fire which looked extremely dangerous. It was sort of beautiful but I kept expecting some poor inebriated hipster soul to sit down on it and get an unfortunate surprise hot kick to the heinie. For the most part it was a room full of hip people hanging out together, but I suppose that's most parties. Fortunately I ran into my friend Dustin so Kat, Dustin and I drove over to Shart Stop to have a quick drink, realize that my roomie has never heard of nor seen the running man and just generally hang. I felt less than entertaining as I was coming down from being uncomfortably high on Claritin D all day. Ohh, point to this story, sort of. There was this guy who I thought rather a douche because his only question to me was the old "What do you do?" and so I of course said, music. He handed me his teeny tiny card w/ the Myspace link of his band and told me to "Drop him a line." Hmmm... don't think so. Shameless self-promotion, but then look at me posting about it here. Apparently this guy has released 34, thirty fuckin' four, albums on his very own Jesus Warhol records, which is aptly named since he was slightly odd, read: creepy, and had slicked back silvery locks. Seems like a Jesus/Warhol concoction in the making. I do, however, really have an affinity for this song. I added it to my Myspace page, because I'm a DORK.

Here's the video from that show previously mentioned. He's wearing the same sweet lit up get up as last time I saw him at Brooklyn Fireproof. He's so much better in real life though. You have to watch this and think hard of sitting indian style on the floor in a small dark room in front of him w/ a can full 'o Pabst and a bowl full 'o cookies.

I felt like I had friends, ha. Ashley rolled into town w/ Bart so we all met up at my house and went over to Cantina Malo for drinks and food w/ Kat and Brenton. Saturday I bought some more basil, dill, parsley and pansies to plant after test driving some Toyotas and making a decision to get a Scion XA. I'm pretty excited about owning a new car, though the poor rating on the overall "ride" on Consumer Reports seems rather shady. I'm going for the Sirius Satellite radio so I can hear all the various blogger radio shows while I drive. After car shopping I hung out at my place drinking Black Lager w/ Ted on the porch in Ninja Turtle blow-up chairs while listening to every version of "Since You Been Gone" that I own. Sunday Kat and I made tofu scramble and brought it over to Kiki's house where 8 hungover people were watching movies and drinking mimosas before heading over to Santa Monica to see the Borat movie and eat thai food while playing Loaded Questions.
Best new vocabulary acquired from watching the movie: Hand Party.
